Our History

Peter, our founder and CEO, experienced firsthand the devastating impact of diagnostic uncertainty when his father passed away from a rare genetic condition, before a diagnosis could be made.

That experience inspired him to launch Diploid, a MedTech company that built Moon, the world's first AI-driven software for rare disease diagnostics. Moon redefined what was possible in clinical genomics: it deeply integrated patient phenotype data into variant interpretation and introduced the concept of automated reanalysis, transforming how rare disease cases are solved.

Adopted by leading centers on every continent and used by Stephen Kingsmore and his team at Rady Children's Hospital to set a Guinness World Record for the fastest genome interpretation, Moon earned global recognition, including a Best of Show award at Bio-IT World 2018. The platform was ultimately acquired by Invitae.

Our Mission

At Codon One, we're building the next chapter in rare disease diagnostics, and taking it much further than ever before. We’ve assembled a world-class team of engineers, bioinformaticians, geneticists, clinicians, and designers united by a single mission: to create the next generation of genome interpretation software, purpose-built for an era where whole-genome sequencing is routine and genomics informs every stage of patient care.

Our vision is bold: to make genome interpretation lightning-fast, fully automated, and deeply integrated into clinical decision-making, allowing genomic insights to guide health decisions from birth to old age.

We invite you to explore our work and to join us in shaping the future of precision medicine.
